Donford Approved Repair Centre
With a carefully-managed business development approach over more than 75 years, the Donford Group has set a benchmark pertaining to service delivery, quality of service, performance and growth. Although many factors were – and continually are – taken into consideration to achieve this, the essence of the Group’s success is that all decisions are guided by the ethos of the Group and its set of core values.
About Donford Approved Repair Centre
Donford Approved Repair Centre is an automotive body repair workshop located at 18 Mynhardt Street, Gants Centre, Strand. This workshop does major structural and non-structural repairs on all brands of accident-damaged motor vehicles (trucks and motorcycles excluded). It services the insurance industry, as well as individual customers.
The business became part of the Donford Group in 2016. It is an associate member of the South African Motor Body Repairers’ Association (SAMBRA), certified as a platinum repairer with Santam, a preferred BMW motor vehicle repairer for Bidvest, Avis and Hertz car rental companies, and has approval from the following manufacturers:
- BMW
- Hyundai
- Toyota
Although Donford Approved Repair Centre functions as an automotive body repair workshop, it sees itself as a service provider within its industry. It, therefore, has a strong focus on customer service. For this reason the business selects those with a service-orientated approach and an enthusiasm for building relationships when appointing new staff, apart from also considering job-specific qualifications.
Employees work within a disciplined team environment with three key performance areas (referred to as AAQ) directing the daily routine – attending work, the right attitude, and quality of work. Also important is the fact that employees are expected to show initiative in executing their task, never to compromise on standards, and to treat others with respect. And, although the nature of the work has its fair share of technically-related challenges, employees are empowered to deal with these and can experience the satisfaction when they have done so successfully.
What it’s like to work here
“Working at Donford Approved Repair Centre means working in a team environment where the contribution of each individual member of the team adds to the successful outcome of the task at hand. Attention to detail and the quality of workmanship are therefore of extreme importance. In this regard we place a strong emphasis on training and coaching our staff to equip them to deliver their best, and on quality control to ensure each individual task is done to perfection.”
“We have a family-like workplace culture where new employees soon become part of the workplace team. This environment gives individuals the leeway to show initiative, demonstrate their qualities and apply their skills. At the same time employees are expected to work in a structured and systematic manner, to take responsibility for and ownership of what they do, and to render support to the rest of the team, when required!”
